Akologo, called up by Bolivia, has also been summoned by Ghana!

David Akologo, goalkeeper for Aurora, who was called up to the Bolivian national team for the friendlies against Algeria (03/22) and Andorra (03/25) respectively, received another piece of news this Saturday: his call-up to the Ghanaian national team, his country of origin, for the friendlies against Nigeria (03/22) and Uganda (03/26) respectively.

The news caused a stir in the country as Akologo is one of the naturalized players for whom Antonio Carlos Zago took a chance, following his great performance in Aurora during the Libertadores phase 2. Furthermore, the goalkeeper is currently in São Paulo where the Bolivian team is gathering before departing for Algeria.

The national team's camp is already aware of the call-up, but so far they haven't said anything; in fact, it's only known that the news caught the goalkeeper by surprise. "In any case, he is calm," they told DIEZ from the Verde's camp in São Paulo. His decision, they believe, is defined by Bolivia.

The other goalkeepers called up by Ghana's coach Otto Addo are Lawrende Ati-Zigi, Joseph Wollacott, and Frederick Asare. Ghana is a strong team in Africa, which has been a major player in youth World Cups, but also considered a tough opponent for any team.

Even Lionel Messi's Argentina has its eyes set on playing friendlies against them. That's why Akologo's inclusion in the squad is important because he is a goalkeeper who arrived in the country five years ago and only recently had the chance to showcase himself internationally in matches against Melgar FC and later against Botafogo. He was the standout player.

When his name appeared among Zago's picks, he uploaded a video showing his happiness. Furthermore, he was even 'drenched' in champagne opened by his agent. This double call-up undoubtedly has boosted the stock of a goalkeeper who, for now, doesn't want to lose focus on the work he's doing with Bolivia in São Paulo.
