Break the law of Printing: Judge determines that two journalists remove the Costa audio in assumptions bribes

They circumvented the Printing Law and submitted them to justice ordinary. The 13th Criminal Sentence Judge of the city of La Paz, Edwin Blanco Soria, ordered sports journalists Fernando Nurnberg and Jaime Vega to remove from their pages of communication an audio where Fernando Costa is involved, president of the Bolivian Football Federation (FBF), in cases of alleged bribes.

Social the publications we made, in frank attack on the freedom of expression, committing malfeasance,” Nurnberg said.

A few days ago an audio was leaked where Gary Suárez, close to Costa, talk to his friend Fabio Gil about some cases of alleged bribery involving the president of the FBF.

First they say that the president of Real Santa Cruz, Carlos Sánchez, had received 30 thousand dollars to vote for Costa in the Federation elections, and second, that Costa had paid to referees to favor Always Ready in a last year's match where Blooming was defeated (1-2) with controversial arbitration by Jorge Justiniano, who ended up being temporarily suspended.

After journalists Nurnberg and Vega published the audio on their respective social networks, the main author, Gary Suárez, came out to defend himself stating that a person had forced him to speak against Costa and that everything he said was false.

For his part, Costa stated that they were putting together a plot against him trying to destabilize his management and that his lawyer Camacho was going to continue with the actions appropriate, and so it happened.

Late Thursday afternoon, Nurnberg and Vega received a summons via whatsapp for a virtual hearing. Nurnberg responded by the same means that he was not going to attend because the corresponding route was the Printing Law, while Vega entered the audience to tell them what they were doing irregular process.

Imminently life-threatening, exposing the integrity of my represented vulnerability by statements made without foundation”, referring to the fact that the publication of these audios they put Costa's integrity at risk. That is why the judge Blanco gave way to the process and ruled against the journalists. “Here there is an eagerness to intimidate, to intimidate (…) There is a violation of our rights because we are being judged by the ordinary way. We will submit to the Constitutional Court of Sucre the process so that it is reviewed and a precedent is set, because if nothing is done we are leaving the door open for that anyone who thinks they can shut up journalists, with this background, it will increase for later ", Jaime Vega pointed out.

Faced with this process, the Circle of Sports Journalists of Santa Cruz (CPDSC) issued a statement repudiating the "ruling against journalists for violating freedom of expression and job".

"For the CPDSC, Judge Blanco's actions are a clear malpractice Therefore, we reserve the right to raise a lawsuit when appropriate against the aforementioned judicial authority for the sizeable legal aberration that has perpetrated against the union by admitting the demand for Action of liberty presented by Costa against journalists”, describes the last paragraph of the statement.
